When you need to paint multiple figures in a fast way, Xpress Color is the ideal choice, these matt colours are specifically formulated to paint miniatures in a fast and easy way.

  • Ideal for painting miniatures in a fast and easy way
  • Best applied over a white, grey or generally light base.
  • Suitable for both brush and airbrush applications.

The main characteristics are its excellent capillarity that allows the colour to flow easily over the miniature surface, settling on all the reliefs and more intensely in the crevices of the figure, creating a contrast effect with a single layer of paint.

It’s recommended to apply Xpress Color on a white or grey primed or painted surface. The colour will create light areas on the reliefs, saturated mid-tones, and intense shadows in the crevices of the figure.

Like all Vallejo’s products, they are very versatile and can be applied over any colour in the range to create soft shading and contouring effects, to create glazes or filters and to blend transitions between colour tones.

Xpress Color can be mixed together or can be diluted with Xpress Medium to modify or create new shades.

Vallejo GC XPress, Wave 2, after some weekend painting.

First off, the usual caveat, that what I prefer for pants, might not be your preference. Feel free to try all types of paints, it is part of the fun in this hobby!
I have a few units of SW: Legion Ewoks, and Wookies. While I have painted several units using a mix of Vallejo’s Game and Model Colour lines, I wanted to try the ‘slap chop’ method of painting, but using the second wave of Vallejo XPress. The main reason, was the increase in shades of brown in the second wave. I also prefer the lighter intensity of the XPress range. I know some prefer to go with a more intense colour among the other brands, but inevitably I hear or read that other painters need to thin down those paints. My thinking is, why not go with less intensity, and build up? This is not a knock on XPress. They have many intense colours among the two waves out now, but some have said that in comparison, some colours are less intense. Honestly, I find that a strength. Also note that there are some in Wave 2 listed as Intense Colours, and I have not yet cracked those bottles open.
Take your time with XPress Colours, I find that they do not dry as fast, which allows me to ensure that the paint has not pooled in areas I did not mean for it to gather.
Thus far, Mahogany has been an excellent choice for wooden parts on the various minis. The selection of browns, and a focus on military colours in Wave 2, have been a boon in the planning of colour schemes.
The paints have been easy to work with, and has made this project less stress free for myself.
Very pleased with this paints, my thanks again, to Sunward Hobbies, for having them available to order.

Amazing translucent paints

Perfect for quick and realistic looking Warhammer minis. To make the most of them - Zenithal prime mini dark grey from below, white from over head. Then use these paints in thin/controlled layers. Then do oil wash/wipe away. I recommend getting both wave 1 and 2 of these paints. So many amazing colors! Highly recommended. Any novice can paint pro looking minis with the methods I've mentioned above

Good paints

Very good paints. I prefer them over GW contrast paints any day of the week. They're very resistant to scratching and flaking as a bonus.
