Description

The Sopwith Triplane is a British, single-engine, three-lobe fighter aircraft with a mixed design from the First World War. On May 28, 1916, the Sopwith Experimental Department launched its first triplane. The technical data indicated that the machine is very manoeuvrable and fast. Sopwith soon introduced this aircraft into mass production. It was equipped with the 132HP Clerget 9B engine, and was simply called the “Tri-plane” -Sopwith Triplane. The English plane aroused a lot of interest from the German side and turned out to be quite a shock for her. The plane served at the front from the end of 1916 to the fall of 1917, giving way to the famous Sopwith Camel.
