The Mercedes-Benz W136 (another designation: 170V) is a German middle-class passenger car that was first presented to the public in 1936 at the Berlin Motor Show. Serial production took place in 1935-1943 and 1946-1955. About 75,000 copies of this car were produced in the first period.

The W136 model was developed as a car intended for the civil market, to replace the Mercedes-Benz model 170. The new car was characterized by simplicity of construction, but also reliability, good performance and, at least, decent travel comfort. These features made it the most popular Mercedes model in the 1930s. In the period 1935-1943, models were produced in body versions of a limousine and a convertible. At the outbreak of World War II, many cars of this type were confiscated by the German armed forces, where they served as staff cars. The Mercedes-Benz W136 served on almost all fronts of this war from its very beginning until the surrender of Berlin in May 1945. Interestingly, after the capitulation of the Third Reich, production of this model resumed and it was one of the first cars produced in Germany after the war. In 1949, models with diesel engines were introduced to the offer. Finally, the entire series production ended in 1955, with the production of nearly 140,000 Mercedes-Benz W136 cars in the period 1935-1955.
