Licensed by McLaren Racing Limited, MENG will soon release a large scale racing car model kit, the RS-004 1/12 McLaren MP4/4 1988. The finished model will be 367mm long and 177mm wide. This kit includes fine decals, carbon-fiber decals and also metallic effect decals. You have the options to build the model as the car driven by Ayrton Senna or Alain Prost. Let’s take a look at the details of this kit.

I was given the impression I was purchasing the “precolored” kit. Seeing other kits of the precolored version for the same price, I was led to believe that’s what I was to receive. Nope! Just a plain old plastic kit you spend hundreds of hours building. Ripoff!

The product description includes that assembly and painting are required. Kit does not include model cement glue, paint, and tools. Adult supervision where required.

The pictures show the box art as well as the kit unpainted.

1/12 Mclaren Senna F1

One of the greatest F1 cars and drivers of all time. The kit is fantastic, a quick inspection of the sprues shows the moulding is crisp. It is on par with the last 3 Tamiya 1/12 F1 offerings which are about 30 yrs old now. Just shows you how ahead of the times Tamiya was. The boxing maybe a bit better as there is very little room left for any crushing allowance, but everything was packed perfectly and efficiently. Would definitely recommend this kit for any F1 enthusiasts. Quality 1/12 F1 kits are few and far between.
