Description

Grex continues to infuse innovation into their airbrushes; focused on ergonomics and the ability to adapt to the users applications and preferences. The defining design element of these airbrushes is the ergonomic hand grip set that provides improved comfort and handling. These airbrushes have been specifically engineered for maximum adaptability by leveraging the already wide selection of accessories available from Grex.

Many airbrushers have come to rely on the ergonomics of our popular pistol style trigger airbrushes. But we’ve recognized that some still prefer the control from a traditional dual action airbrush. So we set out to design and create a solution. Our inspiration came from the simple pen grip. After many iterations we now introduce the Grex Ergonomic Airbrush Grip Set (Patent Pending). A two piece system that easily slips on the airbrush main body and trigger. Made of a silicon-based polymer thats impervious to most solvents, its soft enough to relieve your finger and hand pressure points, yet firm enough to provide structure for increased holding area. A simple, elegant and effective solution.

Ergonomics is not the only design philosophy carried on from the Tritium series. We also brought over the versatility of those airbrushes. These airbrushes are designed to specifically use many of the same parts. You’ll first recognize the same cups and reservoirs; the same magnetic quick fit needle caps; and the same needles, nozzle and nozzle caps, which means that all the same nozzle conversion kits from 0.2mm up to 0.7mm can be used here as well. Learn more about the nozzle conversion kits by clicking here.

And remember, we even expanded the versatility of our products by making it adaptable to other manufacturers bottles and cups with the use of the AD31 and AD32 adapters.

Good but has a learning curve

I’ve been using Iwata and Sparmax and this thing feels different. It’s more efficient at atomizing at lower pressure and just sort of feels like it wants to move a ton of paint. Once I got used to the tiny trigger movements needed to do detail work, it was great.

Has proper seals where the paint goes. Asked the manufacturer about what solvents can be put through it. Pretty much everything— Mek, toluene, xylene, acetone, all the nasty stuff if you really want. Ammonia is the only thing that should be avoided as the cups/well have an ultra smooth surface that ammonia will slowly damage.

Good once I got it working

This is going to be a complicated review, the product itself is fantastic and well worth every penny, but mine also arrived with a broken nozzle.
Were I posting this review when I first received my airbrush, it would have been a frustrated 1 star review telling people to avoid this brand like the plague.
That would have been my whole review were it not for my experience talking to Grex; their customer service is leagues ahead of every other brand I’ve dealt with, they responded quite quickly and offered to replace the defective parts immediately, no questions asked.
Grex has built their brand around customer service and it really shows.

Now that that’s out of the way, the airbrush itself is top quality, it has a very tight spray pattern to start that opens out as you pull back the trigger, making the 0.3 needle great for basing and light detail work.
The choice of 3 cups is fantastic though I only use two of them.
The trigger assembly isn’t as supple out the box as an Iwata of similar price, but it just needs to be taken apart and lubricated better.
The silicon grips take some getting used to, but are ambidextrous and easy to clean.
Over all it’s a fantastic value for the feature set and build quality, from my experience their QC could use some improvements but their customer service has set a new standard in how customers should be treated.
