The Russian Heavy Tank JS-2 was built to counter the German Tiger I. The JS-2, which was put into production in December 1943 during the latter half of WWII, had a long powerful 122mm gun and superior armor. From August, 1944 the hatch on the front glacis was deleted, which greatly improved its frontal protection. The JS-2 was produced in the Chelyabinsk Kirov factory (ChKZ), and they proved to be effective as “breakthrough” tanks as well as combating German armor. The Tamiya 1/48 scale model kit faithfully captures the details of this iconic World War II machine.

Tamiya JS 2 Russian Heavy Tank 1944

This kit was a gift and a very nice downscale version of Tamiya's older 1 35 JS 2 Stalin tank designed to counter the German Tiger, and fought in Battle of Berlin and after the was used in Praque after the war.

Maintained a lot of the larger scales detail with link and length tracks (no jig for the track sag) or PE, but includes metal rods to give weighty feel to the project.

Decals for several versions and poly caps (for adjusting the drive sprocket while attaching the link and length tracks.

Tamiya did a great job on this 1/48 scale 1944 JS 2.

Service and delivery from Sunward Hobbies excellent as usual.
