Revell 1/350 Scale German Submarine Type VII C/41 RVG 05154

I purchased this kit after a previous purchase of the 1/350 Tamiya Bismarck and a read of the book " Battleship Bismarck A Survivor's Story". U - 566, a type VII C sub was constructed at the same time and in the same shipyard as Bismarck. The captains of the two vessels became friends and in a strange twist of fate U-566 was one of the closest Kreigsmarine vessels at the time of Bismarck's sinking. Too low on fuel she was unable to help beyond directing other submarines to the area of Bismarck's oil slick. U-566 would herself be sunk less than two months later in the ongoing Battle of the Atlantic. Knowing this story, it was hard to resist this kit that, with the addition of some photoetch details, and a change of paint camouflage from the kit instructions shows the truly overwhelming size of Bismarck, one of the Kreigsmarines most fearsome vessels of the Second World War.
Detail of this kit is sufficient even at this scale and may even be overstated in some areas. Hopefully it will be a fitting addition to it's bigger brother on my display shelf.

Great, very detailed model. The instructions are excellent. The model arrived quickly and well packed. Good buy for the price.
