Mr. Surfacer 500 – this coating is useful for filling in bumps, dents, scratches, for removing bubbles, texturing and finishing bases. It is suitable for large-scale repairs and can be used as soluble putty.
Mr. Surfacer 1000 contains finer granules than Mr. Surface 500.
Mr. Surfacer 1200 -An even finer form. Thinned down, may be airbrushed. Test before using. About the same consistency as many acrylic model paints

Works well for smoothing surface defects, such as when working with 3D prints. Does however require a fair amount of product spread over a few coats.
Attached is a picture of a large FDM-printed base printed with 0.12mm layers. The stones are a shallow-angled surface, a worst case scenario for prominent layer lines on top surfaces.
It required a few coats with Surfacer 500, sanding, another two coats, more sanding, coating with surfacer 1000, and more sanding. A lot of work but good results.
This stuff sands well and is quite durable. It also sticks perfectly to the plastic I was using.
Just tried this out on a bare PLA print and it did a good job filling in fine layer lines (0.12 - 0.16 mm Layers). I tried scratching it off with my fingernail after a few hours and it held strong, no flaking.
Sands well. Quite impressed. Make sure to use a respirator for application and sanding.
Excellent to work with. As a scratch builder I often have fine blemishes in my models that are slow to fill. A few coats of this fast drying material soon does that and it sands out extremely fast and smooth. Highly recommend it.
Superb results with Mr.Surfacer . Used for an ultra smooth finish on a mould plug on my R/C DLG.
