Italeri Bell OH-13 Sioux Hélicoptère 1/48 Échelle 2820

Italeri, has done well with helo kits over the years and this (re) release of the Bell 13 continues that tradition with a quality kit of the iconic eggbeater from Mash and other shows.

It features separate engine with a nicely complex intake and exhaust system and 2 different saddle tanks. Rotor head detailed as is the cockpit, which has with both controls sticks, something often missing from earlier kits. Bubble canopy is clear (with optional doors). 2 machine gun options included.

Lattice frame excellent, if a bit thick. Molding good, with some flash on parts and ejector pin marks that will be difficult to remove especially on the lattice and the thin landing skids (incl. wheels.) Just filing the marks is my one small pick.

Instructions well done. Paint colors (Italeri Acrylic paint), are generic. Decal options for several versions incl. OD US and Spanish Army, Red West German and a blue Italian Agusta-Bell AB.47G.

Paint schemes basic, but as everything is in the open the build as I study it is paint - assemble - paint - assemble - build to bring this together. Unlike my usual armor, you can't just build, paint , weather and beat up. In 1/48 it will require careful attention in the build phase.

I have seen this kit finished & it looks great. Good for someone used to handling smaller parts and the building method. Painting the frame edge of the bubble might be tad tricky. White glue to attach doors or leave them off.

If you are a helicopter buff and don't mind a paint assemble paint style build this this is good one to add to your collection.

The model was so enjoyable. Very well done. I'm not sure how its a 1/48 scale (its pretty small) but still...a great build.
