The decal paper prints fine, it is quite thick compared to modern decals. And wrinkles a bit which is unfortunate. When applying the decal curled up a bit and wasn’t very sticky, which is frustrating.
Good quality, holds ink well. I just haven't put any on as of yet. I'm sure it will look and work well.
It works well enough but very thin and stretches out of shape easily. What's really needed is several coats of Testors decal spray but it's not available any more.
Microscale liquid decal film will substitute but requires an airbrush and may react with some clearcoats.
When using this film as directed I have had great results, the transfer is neat and stable, and by using microscale Micro Sol i am very satisfied with the results
Ink jet printers are more readily available to me
this product is complete and utter garbage.
so, the review.
I have a brother inkjet printer. a particularly good one at that. it prints colour just fine.
so, I bought this product and the liquid to set the ink for printing. I was actually pretty excited to be ablet o print my own decals.
so, I printed the designs out, did the first coat with my airbrush and boy was THAT a huge mistake. the liquid product claims you can airbrush it on. do NOT do this. it WILL clog your airbrush hopelessly and take a VERY long time to clean it all out. turns into gum inside the airbrush.
so, I get the first and second coat of liquid on as per instructions. gave it several hours for the first coat to dry, then gave it a full 24 hours for the second coat.
now it's time to use them.
I have experience in placing decals, have setter, etc. so, I was surprised when each and every decal either curled hopelessly coming off the paper or if it did sit nice and flat, it started to curl or ripple ruining itself.
each and every decal tried did the exact same thing.
it curled into uselessness right off the paper or it rippled and curled into uselessness once it was placed.
so, avoid this junk. it is absolute garbage.
oh, and what was sunward's response?
oh, really? that's too bad. well, would you like to order some more? maybe something was wrong with that batch.
they simply didn't care.
Hi Randall,
Micro Liquid Decal Film by Microscale Industries MI-12 MI12 MI # 12 is not airbrush ready, it requires thinning aka a fine spray.
The bottle instructions, our website description and Microscale all recommend using a paint brush:
